Abstract
This paper summarizes the experience of birdwatching with children from 6 to 14 years old in a rural area near the city of Bogotá, Colombia.
The richness of birds in the country, and in the region where this experience took place, became an opportunity for exploring, observing, recognizing and recording aspects from their own territory.
During the tours, the children recognized and watched birds that inhabit their environment, they expanded their initial repertoire, they enjoyed birds’ sounds, their colors and shapes which they captured in sculptures, drawings, theater performances, music and literature. Thus, we could achieve an articulation between two areas: science and art.
